THE ARTIST'S TOUR VASE

The Artist’s Tour vase is designed and made by Cara Bauermeister in Cape Town, South Africa.

The design features symbols and icons that denote both physical places and art historical concepts of interest and inspiration to the artist.                       

  As an example the iconographic representation of an obelisk on the piece speaks not only of Ancient Egypt but the notion of collecting and reviving historical designs from souvenirs of the Grand Tour to the collections of modern museum. (Full essay available on request)
